On October 2, 2024, a major agreement aimed at improving road safety in the Republic of Congo was concluded in Abidjan. Minister Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso and the company Quipux signed a memorandum of understanding to implement a series of innovative initiatives as part of a public service delegation.
This public-private partnership, developed with the support of the National Steering Committee for PPPs in Côte d’Ivoire, provides for a comprehensive program focused on three main areas:
- Driver Education: A training program will be established to educate Congolese drivers on good driving practices. This initiative aims to instill a culture of road safety and reduce risky behaviors.
- Strengthening of Road Signs: A large-scale operation will be launched to improve and modernize road signage across the country. This measure is essential for effectively guiding road users and preventing accidents.
- Video-based Enforcement: The introduction of this technology will allow for increased surveillance of the road network. By identifying and penalizing infractions, this system aims to encourage more responsible driving and reduce the number of accidents.
Minister Sassou Nguesso emphasized the importance of this project for improving the safety of Congolese citizens on the roads. For its part, Quipux, with its expertise in the field, has committed to deploying solutions adapted to Congo’s specific needs.
The presence of Mr. Moussa Kouyaté, president of the National Steering Committee for PPPs in Côte d’Ivoire, and the Congolese ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire at this meeting underscores the diplomatic and economic importance of this agreement.
This partnership is part of a broader effort by the Congolese government to modernize its infrastructure and improve the quality of life for its citizens. It also demonstrates Congo’s growing attractiveness for foreign investments in key sectors of its economy.
As the implementation of this project takes shape, Congolese authorities and Quipux will work closely to define a precise timeline and measurable objectives. The impact of these initiatives on reducing road accidents and improving overall road safety will be closely monitored in the months and years to come.
